Not only is it a quick way to get to Isla Holbox, but the views from up there are stunning! It’s super quick too! In just 30 minutes, so you’ll be there in no time.

Good to know: The flight is under 30 minutes and it can only be operated during the day (from 7 am to 6 pm), offering stunning aerial views of the Gulf of Mexico and its coastline.

Where to take the flight to Holbox from Cancun Airport

To catch your private flight to Holbox, you’ll be leaving from the Fixed Base Operations Terminal (Terminal FBO) at Cancun Airport. It’s located next to Terminal 1, so you won’t have to go far.

If you’re already at other Cancun Airport terminals, no worries!

There’s a free shuttle that’ll take you to the FBO terminal. It takes about 40 minutes and leaves every 20-30 minutes. Or, if you prefer, you can grab a taxi and zip there in just 5 minutes.

After the scenic flight from Cancun, you will arrive at Holbox Airport (Airport Code: HOL), a private airstrip on Isla Holbox, that is like a bridge connecting this beautiful island to the rest of the world.

The aerodrome is surrounded by the natural beauty of Holbox Island. It’s not quite small, with a runway that’s 660 meters long and 12 meters wide, but enough to handle about five small twin-engine planes.

There’s also a small, open-air terminal for passengers with a waiting area that is a small palapa with wooden seats, which adds a unique touch to your travel experience.

While the aerodrome mainly supports private planes and air taxis, it doesn’t have regular public flights.

Even though the Holbox airstrip is small, it’s not asphalted and there is no control tower, safety is a big deal here.

• Holbox Air, a local airline, operates flights from Cancun International Airport, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Cozumel to Holbox. This airline operates planes that seat up to 5 people and up to 8 people.

• Rivair also has direct flights to Holbox from Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, and its aircraft have a capacity of up to 5 people.
